Disney Cruise Line reports major reduction in single-use plastics
The company says reusable and refillable alternatives have replaced guest-facing disposable items across its fleet and island destinations.

Disney Cruise Line had eliminated more than 99% of guest-facing, non-essential, single-use plastics across its ships and island destinations by the end of fiscal year 2025, according to the company.
The cruise line replaced single-use dining products with reusable or refillable options. It had previously removed plastic straws, merchandise bags, cutlery and individual condiment packets across the fleet. At Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, meals are served with reusable dishes, flatware and cups rather than guest-facing disposable plastics.
Disney said its shift to reusable shopping bags has avoided the use of nearly 1 million plastic bags each year. Paper-based packaging for Castaway Club loyalty gifts, including lanyards and other amenities, has also removed more than 3 million plastic sleeves from operations since 2024.
In staterooms, refillable dispensers for bath products have replaced individual amenity packaging. The company estimates that the change prevents the distribution of more than 2.2 million plastic containers annually.
