Disney Cruise Line plans three-ship class in fleet expansion
The cruise line expects to operate 13 ships by 2031, including three vessels in a new class beginning in 2029.
Disney Cruise Line plans to expand its fleet from eight ships currently sailing to 13 by 2031. The five planned additions include Disney Believe, a ship intended for Tokyo and three vessels belonging to a new class.
According to the company’s schedule, Disney Believe is expected to arrive in late 2027. The Tokyo ship and the first vessel in the new class are planned for 2029. A second ship in that class is due in late 2029, followed by the third in late 2030.
Disney said the new-class vessels are planned to be larger than Disney Wonder but smaller than Disney Wish. The company has not disclosed the name of the class or names for any of its three ships. The first ship’s planned arrival in 2029 will begin the introduction of the class as Disney works toward its 13-ship fleet target.
