Disney Cruise Line Outlines Ongoing Safety Training for Shipboard Crews
New crew members receive safety familiarization and join a drill within their first two weeks aboard, according to the cruise line.

Disney Cruise Line says safety instruction begins when employees join a ship and continues throughout their seagoing careers. The company’s shipboard careers information states that all crew members have safety duties, regardless of their roles aboard.
During two safety familiarization classes, crew members learn the locations of their muster and embarkation stations, emergency escape routes and the appropriate responses to fire and abandon-ship alarms. The instruction also addresses immediate steps to take during a medical emergency. Disney says additional passenger ship safety classes cover crowd management, emergency communications and the safe movement of guests.
According to the company, newly arrived crew members participate in a drill during their first two weeks aboard. General safety drills are then conducted every other week, allowing crews to repeatedly practice emergency procedures. Disney also requires guests to attend an assembly drill before each sailing.
