Disney Cruise Line outlines education and community projects
Crew volunteers supported schools and nonprofit programs in Florida, The Bahamas and Alaska.
Disney Programs has welcomed its first group of University of The Bahamas students into the Cultural Exchange Program, according to the company. Among them was music education student Turquoise, who joined Disney Wish crew volunteers to prepare thousands of classroom supplies at Supply Zone for Teachers in Brevard County, Florida.
Disney Cruise Line said it has worked with Supply Zone for Teachers annually since 2012 through donations and volunteer activities. Crew members also assembled food packages with the Children’s Hunger Project in Brevard County and prepared learning spaces for educators at the Jack & Jill Center in Broward County.
Other Florida projects included supporting STEAM programming, community events and conservation learning activities with organizations including Brevard Zoo and the Cocoa Boys & Girls Club. In The Bahamas, the cruise line said it has helped thousands of students in Nassau, Abaco and Eleuthera obtain textbooks and school supplies since 2023.
In Juneau, Disney Wonder crew volunteers visited Harborview Elementary with the Southeast Alaska Food Bank. Disney said the group provided boot and glove dryers, hundreds of activity bags containing books and games, and prepackaged snacks for the school’s students.
