Disney Cruise Line fleet set to reach 13 ships by late 2030
The expansion includes Disney Believe, a Japan-based vessel and three midsized ships ordered from Meyer Werft.
Disney Cruise Line plans to expand its fleet from seven ships to 13 by late 2030. Its next addition, Disney Believe, is scheduled to become the line’s eighth vessel in late 2027.
Described as the fourth Wish-class ship, Disney Believe is planned with Tinkerbell artwork on the bow, a South Pacific-inspired lobby and Toy Story characters on the stern. Following its arrival, three additional ships are scheduled for 2029, with another expected in late 2030.
One of the 2029 vessels is being developed through a partnership with Oriental Land Co. Based on the Disney Wish design and adapted for Japanese travelers, the Disney-themed ship is expected to operate year-round from Japan. Oriental Land plans to run the vessel with NYK and estimates it will carry 400,000 passengers annually on two- to four-night cruises departing from Tokyo.
Disney has also ordered three midsized ships from Meyer Werft. Two are scheduled for 2029 and the third by the end of 2030. Each is described as approximately 100,000 gross tons, a size intended to provide flexibility for serving additional destinations and audiences.
