Disney Cruise Line christens Disney Destiny in Fort Lauderdale
The new ship is scheduled to begin sailing from Port Everglades on Nov. 20, followed by cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean.
Disney Cruise Line held a christening celebration for Disney Destiny at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Susan Egan, the ship’s godmother, delivered the ceremonial christening blessing during the event.
Disney Destiny is a sister ship to Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. Its maiden voyage is scheduled to begin Nov. 20, followed by an inaugural season of four- and five-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean.
Disney Cruise Line is also working with organizations in Florida and The Bahamas on an arts initiative named Discover Your Destiny, which aims to inspire students through the arts.
The cruise line plans to expand its fleet to 13 ships by late 2030. Disney Adventure is scheduled to begin homeporting in Singapore in March 2026, while a fourth Wish-class ship is expected in 2027 and a new class of ships is planned for 2029. Disney Cruise Line and Oriental Land Co., Ltd. also have an agreement to introduce Disney cruise vacations to Japan in 2029.
