Disney Believe designs revealed ahead of 2027 debut
Moana will anchor the Grand Hall, while familiar Disney and Pixar characters will feature on the ship’s exterior.
Disney Cruise Line has unveiled exterior artwork and an initial look at the Grand Hall planned for Disney Believe, its ninth ship, which is scheduled to begin sailing in late 2027. The designs were presented by portfolio executive creative director Claire Weiss during a D23 showcase on August 15.
Moana will serve as the Grand Hall icon aboard Disney Believe. On the exterior, Tinker Bell will decorate the bow alongside silhouettes of Peter Pan, Wendy and Captain Hook. At the stern, Toy Story characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear will appear to draw the vessel’s name using large yellow crayons.
Weiss said the stories presented aboard the ship will be linked by the Disney theme of believing in something fantastical.
Following Disney Believe’s launch, the cruise line plans to introduce three vessels in a new ship class beginning in 2029. The expansion is expected to increase Disney Cruise Line’s fleet to 13 ships.
According to Weiss, the new vessels will be positioned between the line’s classic and newer ships in size. They are planned to be larger than Disney Wonder, which measures 84,130 gross tons and accommodates 2,713 guests, but smaller than Disney Wish, a 144,000-gross-ton ship with capacity for 4,000 passengers.
