Disney and Norwegian Expand Franchise-Based Entertainment at Sea
New and existing ships are pairing themed dining, stage productions and adaptable venues with major entertainment properties.

Disney Cruise Line is developing Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny around separate narrative concepts. According to information from The Walt Disney Company, Destiny has a heroes-and-villains theme, with spaces drawing on Marvel, Pixar and classic animation characters. Treasure emphasizes adventure-oriented franchises, including Worlds of Marvel dining and a new Guardians of the Galaxy storyline.
The approach builds on Disney Wish, where rotational dining combines dinner with live performances, character appearances and synchronized effects at Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure and Worlds of Marvel. Disney is also bringing back Marvel Day at Sea and Pixar Day at Sea on selected itineraries, featuring themed menus, screenings, costumed characters and deck shows.
Plans released in August 2024 for Disney Adventure include Marvel Landing, a dedicated area with multiple attractions and a stage production featuring heroes and villains, including Deadpool. Disney’s parks blog said the character’s debut aboard the ship would be his first appearance with Disney Cruise Line.
Norwegian Cruise Line is also using entertainment properties and flexible venues aboard Norwegian Viva. Public information identifies Beetlejuice the Musical, adapted from the Broadway production, as the ship’s headline evening show. The Viva Theater & Club can transition from a proscenium theater into a standing-room concert and late-night club space using transformable seating, advanced lighting and a multi-level video wall.
