Cunard plans major Queen Mary 2 refurbishment
The project will add 31 staterooms and refresh suites, restaurants, kennels, wellness facilities and entertainment technology.

Cunard has announced a major refurbishment of its flagship ocean liner, Queen Mary 2, including the addition of 31 accommodations. The new inventory will comprise 16 Cunard Princess Grill Suites and 15 Britannia-category rooms.
All existing Grill Suites are due to receive updated interiors and furnishings, along with upgraded bathrooms designed with a spa-inspired approach. Cunard also plans improvements to the Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants.
The ship’s dedicated kennels will gain redesigned units and additional capacity. Plans also include a refurbished lounge for pet owners and a larger outdoor walking area.
Elsewhere, Mareel Wellness & Beauty will be converted into a new wellness space, while a collection of luxury retail stores will be introduced. Illuminations, the ship’s planetarium, is scheduled for a digital upgrade. The Royal Court Theatre will continue presenting West End and Broadway productions.
Cunard placed the new suites and staterooms on sale on May 18, 2026, for Queen Mary 2 voyages departing from May 2027.
