Crystal Symphony brings several hundred cruise visitors to Eureka

The Humboldt Bay call formed part of Crystal Cruises’ northbound itinerary, with excursions focused on redwoods and local attractions.

Crystal Symphony arrived in Humboldt Bay shortly after sunrise Friday, bringing several hundred passengers to Eureka for a day of sightseeing. The ship was docked at the city’s waterfront by 7 a.m.

By 8:30 a.m., passengers were making their way to Eureka’s welcome tent, where the city had organized complimentary coffee from Happy Sloth. Shuttles, tour buses and rideshare drivers were available to transport visitors to destinations around the area.

Marina Bregles, a Crystal Symphony shore-excursions employee, said roughly 200 guests were booked on tours. Their main destinations included the redwoods, downtown Eureka and Blue Ox, where visitors could learn about vintage printing.

The Eureka visit was part of Crystal Cruises’ northbound itinerary and marked a first visit to the destination for many aboard. According to Bregles, the ship had traveled from Alaska and called at Astoria before reaching Eureka. San Francisco was scheduled as its next stop, followed by San Diego.
