Cruise visitors weigh options for reaching Cayman Crystal Caves
Cruise-line excursions include tender and transfer planning, while independent guests must manage timing and transportation.

Cayman Crystal Caves is about 18 miles from Grand Cayman’s George Town cruise tender pier, with the drive estimated at 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and the time of day, according to the report.
Grand Cayman is a tender port, so cruise ships anchor offshore and passengers travel to the George Town pier aboard smaller boats. Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Line offer branded excursions to the caves, the report says.
For cruise-line bookings, excursion meeting times are planned around the tender process, and guests often proceed from their tender to a waiting bus with staff assistance. The report also says these excursions are automatically refunded if weather or sea conditions cause the ship to cancel its port call.
Independent visitors are responsible for allowing enough time for tendering and traffic and for reaching their scheduled cave-tour check-in. According to the attraction’s official website, as described in the report, guided tours operate approximately hourly from around 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and take about 90 minutes.
The attraction’s official guidelines prohibit wheelchairs, strollers and walking frames on tours because of the terrain, the report says.
