Cruise traveler compares experiences across seven major lines

Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class and Celebrity emerged as favorites, while two Carnival sailings did not win over the traveler.

A cruise traveler who has sailed with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess, Disney, Virgin, MSC and Carnival has outlined their preferences after experiencing seven lines since October 2023.

The traveler’s first cruise was aboard Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas. Within the company’s fleet, they said they favor Oasis Class vessels over the newer Icon Class ships.

Celebrity ranks among the traveler’s preferred brands following voyages on Celebrity Reflection, Celebrity Ascent and Celebrity Eclipse. On Princess, the traveler purchased the Princess Plus package for $60 per day, reporting that it covered Wi-Fi, a basic beverage package, gratuities, casual specialty dining and specialty desserts.

Their first MSC Cruises trip was a seven-night MSC World America sailing in a Yacht Club suite. By contrast, the traveler described a voyage on Carnival Elation as their least-favorite cruise. They reported that the cabin floor had not been cleaned properly and that a rusted shower head detached on the second day.

A subsequent trip aboard Carnival Mardi Gras provided a better experience, according to the traveler, but did not change their view that the cruise line might not suit their preferences.
