Cruise shares advance as Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Carnival gain
The three major cruise operators outpaced broader market gains, though Norwegian remained down sharply year to date.

Shares of Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Carnival advanced during the session, outperforming gains in the broader market. Norwegian traded at $15.50 after rising 4.24% over one day, while Royal Caribbean gained 4.18% to reach $286.52. Carnival posted a smaller daily increase of 3.54% and traded at $26.46.
No announcement dated to the session explained the movement in Norwegian shares. The company’s daily advance came despite a weaker year-to-date performance than Royal Caribbean. Norwegian was down 30% for the year, while Royal Caribbean had recorded a 4% year-to-date gain.
Norwegian also has 16 ships on order through 2037. The orderbook locks in spending for more than a decade, extending the company’s commitments well beyond the current year. The contrast between Norwegian’s daily share gain and its year-to-date decline leaves it trailing Royal Caribbean’s performance over the longer period.
