Cruise passenger arrested at PortMiami on sexual battery charge
Cody Gray, 34, was taken into custody after the unidentified ship returned to Miami on September 12.
A 34-year-old cruise passenger was arrested after returning to PortMiami and accused of raping an 18-year-old passenger aboard the vessel. Miami-Dade County records show Cody Gray faces charges of sexual battery and providing alcohol to a minor.
According to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office report, Gray met the passenger at a shipboard bar early September 12 while the vessel was sailing back to Florida. Authorities said she had already consumed one alcoholic beverage before Gray provided her with three more drinks.
Investigators alleged that Gray and the passenger later went to his cabin, where he raped her while she was intoxicated. The passenger told authorities she had not consented to sexual activity and had informed Gray that she did not want to have sex.
The arrest report did not name the cruise ship. The vessel reportedly departed Miami on September 6 and returned on September 12.
Gray was ordered held without bond while awaiting another hearing. As of Monday, he remained in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
