Cruise lines revise policies and outline fleet and loyalty plans
Carnival adjusts rules for younger travelers, while Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney and Holland America provide updates.
A recent fare search identified cruise sailings advertised from $199 per person, although a closer review found the offers did not provide the bargains suggested by the headline prices.
Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises will continue operating separate loyalty programs. Nancy Ramos, Royal Caribbean International’s assistant vice president of loyalty, affinity and onboard marketing, said the company was not interested in changing that decision anytime soon.
Carnival Cruise Line has revised its age policy covering independent travel, cabin placement for guests younger than 21 and the number of adult chaperones required for groups of younger cruisers. Under the updated rules, travelers ages 15 through 20 may occupy staterooms separated by as many as three other cabins from a relative or guardian who is at least 25.
In ship and fleet developments, the upcoming Wish Class ship Disney Believe is planned to feature a Frozen-themed dining room and a sweets shop inspired by Inside Out. Separately, Carnival Corporation Ltd. announced that Holland America Line will acquire an existing vessel from another Carnival brand in 2029.
