Cruise lines revise Mexico sailings as Hurricane Polo affects Pacific ports

Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises changed itineraries amid dangerous conditions and port restrictions along Mexico’s Pacific coast.

Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises adjusted sailings as Hurricane Polo intensified offshore and Mexico closed or restricted activity at several Pacific ports. The changes affected destinations including Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, La Paz, Guaymas and Ensenada.

Royal Caribbean removed planned calls at Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada from Navigator of the Seas. The revised itinerary added Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta, while the scheduled Ensenada visit became a day at sea to keep the ship away from areas exposed to dangerous conditions.

Royal Caribbean said prepaid shore excursions booked through the cruise line for canceled ports would be refunded. Any unused onboard credit associated with those refunds will be returned after the sailing.

Princess Cruises also modified its Mexican Riviera program, including plans involving Grand Princess. The company offered affected passengers either future cruise credit or onboard credit, depending on whether they continued with the sailing.

Carnival Panorama also underwent itinerary changes as the hurricane affected Mexico’s Pacific coast.
