Cruise Employees Recount Unusual Experiences at Sea
Industry workers discussed crew parties, passenger conduct, severe waves and other events encountered while working aboard ships.
A group of cruise ship employees shared accounts of unusual experiences during their time at sea, according to a report that brought together workers from across the industry.
The employees discussed a private crew party scene as well as unusual passenger behavior aboard ships and during port visits. Their reported experiences included 30-foot waves, complicated romantic relationships and livestock appearing onboard.
The report also addressed shipboard detention facilities, commonly called ship jails, and said one participating employee had firsthand experience with one. Employees described extensive crew safety training and offered passenger guidance based on their work, including advice about staying healthy at sea, tipping crew members and avoiding conduct that could lead to removal from a ship.
