Cruise brief: Florida arrest allegation, Pacific storms and loyalty matching
Recent cruise developments include a child-supervision case involving a Carnival sailing, weather challenges in the Pacific and an MSC status-match option.

An arrest report alleges that Nathalie Belizaire, 29, of North Miami Beach, left her four children while she took a Carnival cruise. According to the report, authorities forced entry into Belizaire’s home and found the children, including an infant, without supervision and hiding in a bathroom.
In ship news, a reviewer named Jenna spent seven nights aboard Royal Caribbean’s new Legend of the Seas to assess the vessel. No findings from that review were included in the available information.
A separate report said the 2026 hurricane season posed difficulties for Pacific cruise passengers, while travelers sailing to The Bahamas and Caribbean were not affected. The report attributed the unusual conditions largely to El Niño, saying warmer Pacific waters were contributing to stronger hurricanes in that region.
MSC, meanwhile, allows qualifying members of loyalty programs operated by other cruise lines, hotels or tour companies to request a status match. The level offered is based on the applicant’s existing membership status.
