Cruise boarding attempt leads to arrest on North Carolina warrant
Authorities say Ricky Taylor was detained at a Florida port after a nationwide database alert.

Ricky Taylor, 56, was arrested while attempting to board a cruise ship in Florida and later extradited to North Carolina, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said Taylor was flagged at the port late last month after his name generated a match in a nationwide database. Following his arrest, he was returned to North Carolina and booked into the Rowan County Detention Center.
Records show Taylor was served a warrant on Sept. 1 charging him with felony indecent liberties with a student by a school guardian. Deputies said the investigation followed a Nov. 22, 2024, report from the Rowan-Salisbury school system alleging that Taylor, described as a former employee, had an inappropriate relationship with a student.
