Crown Princess opens Australian cruise season in Sydney
The Princess Cruises ship arrived at the Overseas Passenger Terminal ahead of a return voyage to Hawaii, Tahiti and the South Pacific.
Crown Princess arrived at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal in the morning, marking the beginning of the Australian cruise season. The Princess Cruises vessel weighs 113,561 tonnes and can carry up to 3,090 passengers and 1,200 crew. It has 19 decks, four pools and seven whirlpool spas.
The ship will depart Sydney on a 35-night return voyage calling at Brisbane, Suva, Apia, Honolulu, Kauai, Maui, Hilo, Kona, Papeete, Moorea and Auckland. Crown Princess is scheduled to return to Sydney on October 7.
Cruise Lines International Association Australasia Managing Director Joel Katz said the 2026–27 season would feature choices ranging from short coastal cruises to longer voyages around Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
Carnival Cruise Line will have four ships sailing locally, including the year-round Carnival Adventure, Carnival Encounter and Carnival Splendor. Royal Caribbean will bring Anthem of the Seas to Sydney, while Quantum of the Seas was then scheduled to begin its final Australian season from Brisbane.
Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Solstice will return, while Princess plans to deploy several ships across Australian ports. Norwegian Spirit and Holland America’s Noordam will also add to the season’s ship lineup.
