Costa Serena to House Athletes at Aichi-Nagoya 2026
The chartered Italian cruise ship will provide 4,000 beds at Nagoya’s Kinjo Pier as part of a three-tier accommodation plan.

Organizers of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games are using Costa Serena as a floating athletes’ village anchored at Kinjo Pier in the Port of Nagoya.
The Italian cruise ship will contribute 4,000 beds to an accommodation strategy totaling 15,000. The wider plan calls for about 9,000 beds in regional hotels and another 2,000 in temporary modular villas at Garden Pier.
The 114,147-tonne vessel was reportedly chartered for ¥4.48 billion, equivalent to about US$30 million. Facilities aboard Costa Serena include customized training hubs, sports medicine services and continuous dining arranged around event schedules.
Cabins on the ship are being allocated according to sport rather than nationality, placing competitors from different countries in shared sections based on their disciplines.
