Costa Serena serves as floating hotel for 20th Asian Games
The cruise ship is accommodating 4,000 athletes and officials while docked in Nagoya, Japan.

Costa Serena arrived in Nagoya on September 15, 2026, for a temporary role as a floating hotel during the 20th Asian Games. The ship is scheduled to remain at the port through October 6, housing 4,000 athletes and officials.
Onboard services have been adapted for the event. Dining hours are being arranged around training and competition schedules, while menus are being modified to meet athletes’ nutritional requirements. Fitness facilities have also been expanded and re-equipped, with additional training areas created aboard the ship.
Cabins are assigned by sport rather than national delegation, bringing together participants from 18 disciplines, including judo and gymnastics. Dedicated shuttles will carry athletes between the ship and competition venues to reduce travel time and provide more time for training and rest. Francesco Raffa, Costa Cruises’ Asia region director, said Costa Serena is the first cruise ship to be used as a floating hotel for a major event in Japan.
