Costa Serena houses athletes during Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games
Singapore competitors are staying aboard the cruise ship as organizers use several accommodation options in place of a dedicated athletes’ village.

Organizers of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games are accommodating participants on a cruise ship, in temporary wooden containers and at hotels because the event does not have a dedicated athletes’ village.
Singapore athletes competing in water polo, wushu and table tennis have checked into Costa Serena, which is docked off the port of Nagoya. The ship is serving as their accommodation during the Games.
Singapore chef de mission Goh Kee Nguan said the athletes staying aboard Costa Serena were in good spirits and adjusting well to the arrangement.
Abielle Yeo, captain of Singapore’s women’s water polo team, said the continuous availability of food aboard the ship helps athletes adapt their daily routines around varying game times. She said that flexibility was a benefit of the cruise ship accommodation.
