Cost ranks as leading cruise misconception in survey
More than six in 10 respondents said mistaken beliefs about cruise holidays remain widespread, although a majority saw improvement over five years.

A survey conducted by cruise specialist cruise.co.uk found that perceived expense was the most commonly identified misconception about cruising, selected by 27% of respondents.
The belief that cruise holidays are only for retired people ranked second at 20%. Seasickness followed at 14%, while 11% chose the idea that there is nothing to do onboard. A further 10% identified the belief that passengers must dress up.
Overall, 63% of respondents said misconceptions about cruising still exist among the public. However, 55% believed there are fewer mistaken perceptions now than there were five years ago.
The findings also indicated that such views did not necessarily affect respondents’ initial booking decisions. According to the survey, 64% said cruise misconceptions had not influenced them before they booked their first voyage.
