Chicago man charged over alleged cruise ship bomb threat
Federal prosecutors say a recorded call threatened an unidentified cruise ship carrying passengers from the Bahamas.

Daquan Lamont Smith, 20, of Chicago has been charged with interstate transmission of a threat after allegedly threatening to blow up a cruise ship, according to federal prosecutors.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida said a federal indictment filed in Orlando alleges that Smith made the threat during a recorded call on December 6, 2025. The vessel, which was carrying passengers from the Bahamas, was not identified in the report.
The FBI investigated the case. Smith faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison if convicted. The charge and allegations are contained in an indictment, and no conviction has been reported.
