Celebrity Equinox Calls at Tangier During VACAYA Mediterranean Cruise
The ship spent roughly nine hours in the Moroccan port as passengers toured several of the city’s main attractions.
Celebrity Equinox docked at the Port of Tangier on Sunday morning with hundreds of passengers traveling on an LGBTQ+ traveler-focused voyage organized by VACAYA. The visit marked the ship’s first Moroccan port call during the Mediterranean itinerary.
The vessel arrived at about 7 a.m. and departed shortly before 4 p.m. During the stop, passengers visited Tangier sites including the old medina, the Kasbah, Grand Socco and traditional markets.
Several social media users criticized the decision to permit the ship to dock in Tangier. The port call was part of VACAYA’s first Mediterranean cruise, which departed Barcelona on August 6 and was scheduled to continue through August 15.
