CDC sanitation records available for 14 ships sailing from Gulf ports

Each of the 14 cruise ships scheduled to sail from New Orleans or Galveston before year-end has a sanitation inspection record on file, according to the report. The listed ratings reflect each vessel’s most recent inspection through the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vessel Sanitation Program.
The report emphasizes that the ratings address sanitation rather than overall vessel safety or the quality of a ship or cruise. CDC inspections examine food preparation and storage, cleanliness in kitchens and service spaces, pools, hot tubs, common areas and children’s facilities. Ventilation, air quality in shared spaces and staterooms, and onboard medical facilities are also reviewed.
Ships with available scores include Carnival Cruise Line’s Jubilee, Valor, Liberty, Dream, Miracle and Breeze; MSC Seascape; Disney Magic; Norwegian Cruise Line’s Viva and Breakaway; and Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Splendor. Royal Caribbean International’s Mariner of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas also have inspection scores on file.
