Bookings have opened for Carnival Cruise Line’s fifth Excel-class ship, with its first Galveston departure scheduled for April 15, 2028.

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that Carnival Tropicale will be based in Galveston when the ship is delivered in 2028. The vessel, the company’s fifth Excel-class ship, is planned to accommodate more than 6,000 guests and a crew of just under 2,000.
According to Carnival, the ship will operate four-, five-, six- and eight-day itineraries. Planned destinations include Celebration Key, RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay, Isla Tropicale and Puerta Maya, along with Caribbean ports such as Progreso and Nassau.
Carnival Tropicale’s planned amenities include an all-ages waterpark with six slides, family raft rides and a treehouse-themed obstacle course. Announced dining venues include Hawaiian- and Asian-inspired Uku Lei Lei, Italian- and Greek-influenced Fetaccine, and Emeril’s Coastal Seafood.
Carnival has opened reservations for the ship. A review of booking options found a four-day Western Caribbean cruise from Galveston priced at $519 and a six-day sailing at $589, with restrictions applying. The ship’s first cruise from Galveston is scheduled to depart April 15, 2028.
