Carnival Tropicale bookings open for 2028 Galveston debut
Carnival Cruise Line marked the ship’s development at Meyer Werft in Germany as reservations became available for sailings from Texas.

Carnival Cruise Line celebrated the development of Carnival Tropicale at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, as bookings opened for the vessel. The first steel was cut there on 10 September 2026, beginning construction ahead of the planned April 2028 debut.
Carnival says the fifth and final Excel-class ship will be 344 metres long, carry more than 6,000 guests and use liquefied natural gas for propulsion. Planned features include the multi-deck Sunsation Point family zone and Carnival WaterWorks Ultra, a water park with six slides.
Other attractions will include a redesigned Fairway 66 Mini Golf course inspired by Route 66, Treehouse Adventure Trial and new arcade areas.
The maiden voyage is scheduled to leave the ship’s Galveston, Texas, homeport on 15 April 2028. Its bow will feature the Star of Texas to represent the vessel’s connection with the state.
Carnival Tropicale will operate four-, five-, six- and eight-day itineraries. Destinations will include Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, Isla Tropicale and Puerta Maya, along with Caribbean ports such as Progreso and Nassau.
