Carnival to redeploy two Australia-based ships to North America
Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Adventure are scheduled to leave the Australian market permanently after final departures in March 2028.

Carnival Cruise Line announced on Oct. 15, 2026, that Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Adventure will be permanently redeployed from Australia to North America, reducing its Australian fleet from four ships to two.
The company said Carnival Luminosa’s final Australian departure is scheduled for March 15, 2028. Carnival information identified Sydney as the departure point in one instance and Brisbane in another. The full itinerary had not been released.
Carnival Adventure is due to leave Sydney for the final time on March 20, 2028, although its final itinerary also remained unpublished. The ship joined Carnival Cruise Line in March 2025 after previously operating for P&O Cruises Australia as Pacific Adventure.
Carnival Splendor and Carnival Encounter will remain homeported in Australia, based in Sydney and Brisbane, respectively. Carnival said deployment planning several years ahead considers factors including long-term certainty and operating conditions that are competitive globally. Cruise Lines International Association Australasia said it had previously warned that regulatory uncertainty and increasing costs had significantly weakened Australia’s ability to attract cruise ships.
