Carnival Rewards shifts cruise loyalty program toward spending
The replacement for Carnival Cruise Line’s VIFP program separates redeemable points from status-qualifying Stars.

Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Rewards program replaces the Very Important Fun Person program with a loyalty structure based on eligible spending rather than nights sailed. Members earn three Carnival Rewards Points for every $1 spent on qualifying Carnival purchases, including gratuities.
Rewards Points can be applied toward future Carnival cruises and onboard offerings such as shore excursions, specialty dining and spa treatments. Separately, Status Qualifying Stars determine a member’s tier and associated benefits.
The program includes four status levels. Members enter at Red, while Gold requires 10,000 Stars, Platinum requires 50,000 Stars and Diamond requires 100,000 Stars. The first status-qualifying period is scheduled for Sept. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2028.
Carnival will continue to recognize sailing history through its Milestone Recognition Program, which provides recognition and perks based on members’ lifetime days sailed with the cruise line.
The Carnival Rewards Mastercard also offers 50,000 bonus points to new cardmembers who spend $1,000 within their first 90 days.
