Carnival Removes Utensil After Passenger Foot-Scratching Video Spreads

An unidentified Carnival Cruise passenger appeared to use a restaurant fork to scratch the bottom of her foot in videos widely circulated on Instagram, according to a report about the footage.
Instagram user lucky_charmedcourt posted six clips that reportedly documented the woman scratching her foot. The report described her as appearing to have a skin condition, although no further details were provided.
A cruise blog identified the vessel as Carnival Sunrise, the ship formerly known as Carnival Triumph. Carnival Cruise Line had not confirmed that the incident occurred aboard that vessel.
Carnival Cruise Line said its team acted after learning about the situation, addressed the matter with the guest and took the utensil out of service.
At the time of the report, the video clips had drawn more than 150,000 comments on Instagram and prompted renewed discussion about hygiene aboard cruise ships.
