Carnival Radiance Drops Cabo San Lucas Call Over Tropical Storm Forecast
The ship will return directly to Long Beach after Carnival revised its eight-night Mexican Riviera itinerary.

Carnival Radiance will skip its scheduled visit to Cabo San Lucas and sail directly to Long Beach because of weather conditions linked to Tropical Storm Rachel, according to a Carnival Cruise Line weather alert.
The ship departed Long Beach on Saturday, October 3, 2026, for an eight-night Mexican Riviera cruise. Its itinerary included Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán and La Paz, with Cabo San Lucas planned as the final port call. The vessel had been scheduled to arrive in Cabo at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, October 9, and depart at 2:30 p.m.
Carnival said overall conditions and storm-track forecasts, particularly those involving Rachel, meant continuing the original route would not be safe or comfortable. The company’s alert canceled the October 9 Cabo visit but said Carnival Radiance remained expected to return to Long Beach as scheduled on Sunday, October 11.
In its 2 a.m. PDT update on October 9, the National Hurricane Center showed Rachel moving northeast toward northern Baja California and the northern Gulf of California. The agency expected heavy rain, gusty winds and large swells to reach the region by the weekend.
