Carnival Policies Cover Speakers, Youth Curfew and Conduct
The cruise line’s rules restrict several onboard items and activities, with penalties possible for violations or disruptive behavior.

Carnival Cruise Line’s prohibited-items list has included Bluetooth speakers, radios and other external speaker systems since 2024. The company says such devices brought aboard will be held until the cruise ends. Carnival partly attributes the restriction to safety, saying passengers and crew must be able to hear public announcements.
The line also requires passengers who are 17 or younger to leave public areas by 1 a.m. unless accompanied by an adult in their traveling party who is at least 21. A Carnival spokesperson said in 2025 that the curfew had been in place for several years and was not a newly introduced policy.
Other restrictions have addressed specific decorations and activities. Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald said in 2024 that upside-down pineapple decorations were no longer allowed on stateroom doors and would be removed. During summer 2025, Carnival also prohibited handheld folding fans in clubs and on dance floors for safety reasons.
Carnival’s Code of Conduct states that guests whose disruptive behavior affects the comfort, enjoyment, safety or well-being of passengers or crew may be removed from the ship at their own expense and barred from future Carnival cruises. According to the company, policy violations may also result in a $500 fine, confinement to a stateroom or disembarkation.
