Carnival Passengers Report K9 Presence During Recent Sailings
The cruise line has expanded its use of drug-detection dogs and may have canine teams sail aboard its ships.

A Carnival Cruise Line passenger reportedly encountered a K9 in a cabin hallway for much of each day during a recent voyage. In a social media post, the guest said the dog was present in the corridor during most waking hours.
Another passenger commenting on Reddit reported seeing a dog aboard Carnival Celebration for the entirety of a July 4th week sailing. The accounts did not provide additional confirmed details about the dogs’ specific duties.
Carnival has increased its use of drug-sniffing dogs in recent years. While canine teams are commonly seen at cruise terminals during embarkation, some dogs and their handlers also sail aboard the company’s ships.
Under Carnival’s stated policy, guests may be denied boarding or removed from a ship if they bring or attempt to bring marijuana, cannabis derivatives or other illegal substances onboard.
Carnival otherwise permits only fully trained and vaccinated working service dogs aboard its vessels. Pets, emotional support animals and service dogs still in training are not allowed.
