Carnival Panorama passenger identified after overboard incident
The ship returned to Long Beach on schedule as authorities continued searching for 56-year-old Thomas Gigler.

A Carnival Panorama passenger reported missing while the ship was returning to California from Mexico has been identified as 56-year-old Thomas Gigler.
Carnival said video from the vessel’s man-overboard camera system showed Gigler going overboard. The circumstances surrounding the incident have not been publicly established.
After Gigler’s disappearance, the ship changed course and conducted search patterns under its emergency man-overboard procedures. Passengers remained in their cabins for about two hours while security personnel carried out accountability checks to confirm who was aboard.
The U.S. Coast Guard deployed fixed-wing aircraft and coordinated the search with the Mexican Navy and commercial vessels in the area. Carnival Panorama later returned to Long Beach as scheduled while authorities continued efforts to locate Gigler.
