Carnival Legend passenger airlifted during medical emergency
HM Coastguard evacuated the passenger off southwest England before the cruise ship continued toward Dover.
A passenger aboard Carnival Legend was airlifted by HM Coastguard on August 29 after a medical emergency during the ship’s final sea day.
HM Coastguard received a request for assistance at about 9:40 a.m. local time while the vessel was sailing off the southwest coast of England. The ship was traveling from Douglas toward Dover when the emergency occurred.
The passenger was flown to Newquay Airport in Cornwall, England, and transferred to an ambulance after leaving the ship. Authorities had not released the passenger’s identity or age, and no details about the medical condition prompting the evacuation were disclosed.
Carnival Legend made a minor course adjustment while the evacuation was conducted. After the operation was completed, the ship resumed its voyage toward Dover.
