Carnival Freedom returns after 35-day Marseille dry dock
The ship received a lower whale tail funnel, an expanded casino and other onboard updates ahead of scheduled sailings from Barcelona and Port Canaveral.

Carnival Freedom is returning to service after completing a 35-day dry dock at Chantier Naval de Marseille in Marseille, France. The work included a new whale tail funnel with a lower height, which Carnival says is designed to permit access to additional ports.
Other enhancements include a redesigned casino with more than 100 additional gaming machines, a refreshed video arcade, updated retail spaces and accessibility improvements throughout the ship. Carnival Freedom also now displays the cruise line’s new bow crest.
The ship is scheduled to arrive in Barcelona on October 9 for an eight-day Mediterranean cruise, followed by a 13-day Carnival Journeys transatlantic voyage. It is due to arrive in Port Canaveral on October 30 and remain homeported there through May 2027 before repositioning to Norfolk, Virginia.
Carnival has also opened reservations for Carnival Freedom’s 2028-29 season from Norfolk, with departures available through April 2029. The planned six- to eight-day sailings are scheduled to visit ports in The Bahamas, Bermuda, the Eastern Caribbean and Canada.
