Carnival Freedom Receives New Funnel During Marseille Dry Dock
The ship was scheduled to resume sailing in October 2026 before returning to Port Canaveral.

Carnival Freedom was undergoing maintenance and refurbishment in Marseille, France, in September 2026, including installation of a new whale-tail funnel. Carnival Cruise Line shared shipyard photos of the installation in a Sept. 17 Facebook post.
The vessel lost its funnel in two fires between 2022 and 2024. Along with replacing the structure, Carnival scheduled routine maintenance and improvements to onboard spaces during the dry dock. The cruise line planned to disclose further details about the enhancements when the ship returned to service in October.
Carnival Freedom was scheduled to depart Barcelona on Oct. 9 for an eight-night round-trip Mediterranean cruise. A 13-night transatlantic voyage was set to follow on Oct. 17, returning the ship to Port Canaveral with its updated appearance.
From May 2027, the nearly 3,000-passenger ship was scheduled to operate from Norfolk, offering six-day cruises to the Bahamas and Bermuda, as well as eight-day itineraries to the eastern Caribbean and Canada. For the winter 2027-28 season, Carnival planned to deploy the vessel mainly on four- and five-day Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral.
