Carnival Freedom enters extended Marseille dry dock
The several-week project is expected to combine technical work, long-term funnel repairs and guest-area upgrades ahead of the 2026 cruise season.

Carnival Freedom has begun an extended dry dock at Chantier Naval de Marseille in France, according to the report. Publicly available dry-dock schedules cited in the report had placed the refit between early September and early October 2026.
Deployment trackers and refurbishment summaries indicated the yard period would include technical overhauls alongside a broad interior refresh for the 19-year-old Carnival Cruise Line ship. The report also said the work was expected to complete long-term repairs stemming from funnel damage during a 2023 fire, bringing the vessel’s profile closer to the fleet’s standard whale-tail design.
Published schedules from U.S. ports showed Carnival Freedom maintaining a full cruise program before the planned shipyard period, including calls at Port Canaveral.
