Carnival Freedom completes 35-day dry dock in Marseille
The Carnival Cruise Line ship received a redesigned funnel, an expanded casino and other onboard updates.

Carnival Freedom has emerged from a 35-day dry dock at Chantier Naval de Marseille in Marseille, France, following work on its funnel and several onboard areas.
The new whale-tail funnel is lower and wider, allowing the vessel to pass under more bridges and visit additional ports. The report says the ship lost its two previous funnels in funnel fires.
Dry-dock updates included a redesigned casino with more than 100 additional gaming machines, a refreshed video arcade, updated retail spaces and accessibility improvements throughout the ship. Carnival Freedom also received Carnival Cruise Line’s From Sea to Shining Sea bow crest.
Carnival Cruise Line announced that the vessel will homeport in Norfolk, Virginia, for what the report describes as the 2028-2028 season. The planned Norfolk program includes six- and eight-night cruises to The Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada and the Eastern Caribbean through April 2029. The newly announced sailings are open for booking.
