Daniela Gargiulo has been appointed Carnival Cruise Line’s first female Staff Captain across its global fleet. The appointment was celebrated in Sydney on Aug. 5.
A ceremony took place aboard Carnival Adventure while the ship was returning to Sydney from the South Pacific. During the event, Captain Francesco Bencivenga formally welcomed Gargiulo as his second-in-command.
As Staff Captain, Gargiulo has responsibilities that include oversight of marine operations, safety and crew leadership. She began her career with Carnival Cruise Line as a Deck Cadet in 2013 and progressed through the ranks before joining Carnival Adventure last year.
Carnival Adventure operates from Sydney throughout the year. The ship carries more than 2,600 guests as well as 1,100 crew members.
