Cabin flooding reported aboard Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas
Passenger footage appeared to show water pouring from a ceiling and pooling inside a Deck 12 stateroom on July 28.
A Royal Caribbean passenger shared footage of flooding inside a cabin aboard Allure of the Seas on July 28. Video posted by Dominic Arcangelo appeared to show water pouring heavily from the ceiling and accumulating to an estimated depth of 1 to 2 inches across the floor.
Jessica Cunningham, who identified herself as Arcangelo’s aunt and a person seen in the footage, said the affected accommodation was room 12539, a standard interior stateroom on Deck 12. Cunningham attributed the flooding to a jacuzzi leak.
According to Cunningham, the passengers were relocated to another room and packed their belongings, placing clothing in trash bags to be laundered. She also alleged that her husband’s phone was ruined while connected to a charger and that her own phone’s charging port suffered water damage as she helped clear the cabin. Details of any compensation from Royal Caribbean were not publicly available.
Royal Caribbean had not responded to a request for additional information by publication time. Cruise-tracking platform Cruise Mapper reported that Allure of the Seas continued operating on schedule after the cabin leak.
