Bee swarm removed from Utopia of the Seas pool deck
The insects gathered beneath a shade umbrella before the ship’s four-night Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral.

Passengers boarding Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas on October 12 encountered a large group of bees near the ship’s waterslides. The insects had clustered beneath a shade umbrella on the pool deck.
A passenger arriving in the area saw a person wearing a beekeeper suit already working to remove the bees. Royal Caribbean has not publicly provided details about how the swarm was handled.
At the time of the incident, Utopia of the Seas was docked at Port Canaveral, Florida, while preparing to depart on a four-night Bahamas itinerary. The scheduled voyage included calls at Nassau and Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Published accounts indicated that the bees appeared to have been removed without delaying the ship’s October 12 departure. No further explanation from the cruise line was publicly available.
