Bahamian police investigate death aboard cruise ship at Great Stirrup Cay
Authorities said a 52-year-old American citizen was found deceased in the vessel’s medical facility after unsuccessful emergency efforts.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force is investigating the death of a 52-year-old American citizen aboard a cruise ship that arrived at Great Stirrup Cay in the Berry Islands.
Police said officers in the Berry Islands received information shortly after 7 a.m. concerning an apparent suicide on the vessel. Officers assigned to Great Stirrup Cay and detectives from New Providence subsequently boarded the ship and were directed to its medical facility, where they found the deceased and opened an investigation.
According to the report, emergency medical assistance had been requested, but efforts to save the man were unsuccessful. The ship’s doctor declared him dead at approximately 4:05 p.m., and his body was later moved to the vessel’s medical room.
Investigators said their preliminary findings indicated that the couple involved had argued before the incident. Police are continuing to gather information, and an autopsy is expected to assist authorities in determining the cause of death.
