Astoria Grande Makes Maiden Call at West Port Said

The Palau-flagged cruise ship arrived from Kusadasi with 414 passengers and 409 crew members, according to the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

West Port Said welcomed Astoria Grande for its first visit to the Egyptian port during a Mediterranean itinerary from Turkey, the Suez Canal Economic Zone said. The ship was carrying 414 passengers and 409 crew members.

Passenger programs during the call were set to include local visits in Port Said as well as excursions to Cairo and Giza to see tourist and archaeological sites. The vessel was scheduled to leave on Monday evening for Antalya, Turkey.

Owned by Goodwin Shipping Ltd, Astoria Grande is reported to measure 193 metres in length and 32 metres in width, with a draft of 6 metres.

The economic zone said the call formed part of its efforts to encourage maritime tourism across its Mediterranean and Red Sea ports. It also said it is working to improve port readiness for cruise vessels by providing services and facilities for ships and passengers.
