Arrecife mayor forecasts cruise traffic growth through 2030
MSC Cruises Spain has confirmed that Arrecife will continue serving as a home port for the company through 2029.

Arrecife Mayor Yonathan de León said the city is on course to reach 900,000 cruise passengers before the end of 2030 following meetings with executives from major cruise companies.
Fernando Pacheco, general director of MSC Cruises Spain, confirmed during one of the meetings that Arrecife will remain a home port for the company’s cruise operations through 2029.
Official statistics from the Port Authority of Las Palmas indicated that Arrecife’s ports were expected to receive nearly 730,000 cruise passengers in 2026.
De León also said several companies are moving cruises originally scheduled to operate in the Persian Gulf during winter 2027-2028 to the Canary Islands, including Lanzarote. No further details about the companies or revised itineraries were provided.
