AMADEUS plans hybrid Douro River ship for 2028
The purpose-built AMADEUS Douro is set to carry 111 guests on round-trip voyages from Porto.

AMADEUS River Cruises plans to enter Portugal’s Douro River market in 2028 with a purpose-built ship designed for the waterway’s narrow passages and historic locks.
The planned AMADEUS Douro will accommodate 111 guests across 54 staterooms and two suites. It is expected to operate from March through November, sailing round-trip itineraries from Porto through the UNESCO-listed Douro Valley.
The vessel is planned to use hybrid propulsion technology intended to lower emissions during operation. Public spaces are set to include an open sun deck with a swimming pool, lounge and bar, along with the cruise line’s signature Café Vienna.
AMADEUS said it will release further information about the ship’s onboard features and inaugural itineraries separately.
