Algoma closes record cruise season with 13 Viking ship calls
Visit Kewaunee County says about 5,000 passengers arrived at the Wisconsin city’s marina during the season.

The City of Algoma concluded what was described as a record-breaking cruise season Wednesday, after welcoming 13 cruise ships and approximately 5,000 passengers to its marina, according to Visit Kewaunee County.
Every ship that called at Algoma during the season was operated by Viking Cruises. The cruise line includes the city on two Great Lakes itineraries: the 10-day Great Lakes Treasures voyage, which sails roundtrip from Milwaukee, and the 15-day Great Lakes Collection itinerary between Toronto and Duluth, Minnesota.
Bradley Kautenberg, executive director of the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce, said he expects eight cruise ships to visit Algoma next year. The first scheduled call is expected on May 20.
