AIDAperla Remains in Le Havre for Hull Repairs After Pier Contact
AIDA Cruises said strong winds caused the ship to break free from its berth on Sept. 8, prompting an itinerary change.

AIDAperla required hull repairs after breaking free while docked in Le Havre on Sept. 8, according to AIDA Cruises. The cruise line attributed the incident to an unexpected storm front that brought strong winds during the afternoon.
The company said the ship contacted the pier while maneuvering. AccuWeather reported that sustained winds ranged from 16 to 40 mph that afternoon, with the strongest gust reaching about 60 mph.
AIDA Cruises said a subsequent inspection determined that repairs to the ship’s hull were needed. The work required AIDAperla to extend its stay in Le Havre and adjust its planned itinerary. The cruise line said the repairs were still underway.
CruiseMapper listed the ship as having departed Hamburg on Sept. 5, with a scheduled call in Southampton before its arrival in Le Havre.
